[MRCA] U-229 Pin question

Team,
Until recently, when needing to make adjustments to a U-229
connector, I've been soldering directly to the back of the contacts, which
is tedious as heck. After viewing some of the graphics on the interwebs,
it looks like others (posssibly everyone except myself) have been
soldering or crimping little pins, which then plug into the back of the
contacts. Question to the group is- are there "pins" that solder to the
wires, then plug/un-plug for the faceplate of the connector?
If so, what are the sizes/guages?
