[MRCA] New Greenie

Hello All,

I'm new to the Green Radio scene and taking delivery on a "new" Clansman
PRC-320 this Monday (my wife's gonna' kill me) and am looking forward to
getting out on patrol and making some contacts with my new radio.  I enjoy
getting out and hiking, now I'll be able to take the radio and work some PM.
The reason for getting the PRC-320 was that I had spent some time with Terry
Endy (KB3SOM) and his PRC-320 and I was really impressed with the radio's
transmit and receive with just a wire thrown out in the trees.  I have also
checked into the Moose & Squirrel net a few times now and again I'm
impressed with the signals coming from all the radios and more so, the
man-pack rigs with a whip antenna.

 

I do have one question about a Racal RA-250 modern style clansman handset.
Is it better than stock handset that I'll be getting and what should one
expect to pay for one?  One just got "auctioned" off on eBay this Saturday
and went for $102.50.

 

I'm looking forward to meeting some more Green Radio HAMS and making some
contacts with my PRC-320.
