[MRCA] Navy-Marine MARS Shut Down

          I've posted below portions of a recently received msg that is 
partially quoted.  Subject:  Navy-Marine MARS will shut down. Further 
details available from  the ARRL and other sites.
          Looks like a unique and reliable National Military Commo back 
up system that costs very little and is mostly comprised of volunteers  
is being put in the "round file cabinet". A sad day for some very 
professional and dedicated communications personnel. I can only guess 
that those in Cyber Command decided that Sat Comm and Internet is 
better. I also assume that the rationale that anything that is simple, 
cheap, and works is no longer needed.  Bon voyage

UNITED STATES NAVY HAS DECIDED TO SUSPEND NAVY-MARINE CORPS (NMC) MARS 
ACTIVITIES EFFECTIVE 30 SEP 2015 AND THE NAVAL COMPUTER AND 
TELECOMMUNICATIONS AREA MASTER STATION ATLANTIC (NCTAMS LANT) WILL WORK 
TO TRANSITION THE NMC MARS PROGRAM TO BEST ALIGN IT WITH NATIONAL 
MISSION REQUIREMENTS.  THIS IS THE RESULT OF A REVIEW BY FLEET CYBER 
COMMAND (FCC)/COMMANDER 10TH FLEET (C10F), NAVAL INFORMATION DOMINATION 
FORCES (NAVIDFOR), AND NAVAL COMPUTER AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS AREA MASTER 
STATION ATLANTIC (NCTAMS LANT).
