[MRCA] Mini Speaker Amplifier LM386 tips

We're talking boat anchors here!, batteries are going to suffer no matter what. You want something that can be heard over the fans and dynamotors!  I want it to be big and loud because otherwise what's the point , you may just as well be wearing headsets.

The difference is the LM-386 was designed to run of a modest power supply, e.g. 9-volt battery, while the LM-383 is lusting after a Sears Diehard.
Typical no signal currents are 4 ma. and 45 ma. respectively.

There might be modern class-D (switching) devices that would let you have you cake and eat it too. Anybody have a handle on these?

LM-386 kits, jack, volume control, PCB etc are dirt cheap out of China via E-bay.
