[MRCA] G.E. TCM-2 question

Tom,

Good luck with your nice find in the condition as you described it. I also have a TCM-2 in which the original connectors for the cables between the power supply and the transmitter were replaced with 5 pin tube sockets. Luckily I managed to find connectors which have the same pin patterns as the originals, except with Signal Corps and not Navy part numbers. I also found the appropriate plugs so I can make up the cables. I'm in the process of swapping the tube sockets with the proper connectors and will put it on the air.
As to the use: I have a photo of a TCM-2 in what looks like a shore communications facility, with an RAO type receiver. The power supply is on a foot or so high pedestal (I measured on the photo by comparing dimensions and scaled it to its real size), the transmitter sits on top of the power supply. I can send you the jpg file. 
Although the original manual mentions both shore and shipboard use, without any further details, I have the feeling that it was mainly used on shore.
