Tom,
That knob is not special in that loosening the two set screws should do 
it?  I just looked at mine and that's all I can see. The shaft on mine 
is milled such that the setscrew must be withdrawn all the way to clear 
the grove.  It may be simply corroded or such.  Be careful, though, in 
pulling the shaft out as the tuning section is a little delicate.
