Thanks, Breck for this info.   It brought back my 
memory of actually reading the "tubeless" Corkey 
keyer article in that 1950 issue of QST.
I was not yet into radio at that time but in 
later years of filling out my QST collection I 
read every issue I picked up.  By then I already
had built the W9TO variable and bistable 
multivibrator circuits, so the Corkey article was purely academic.

Keep up the postings... they are almost like 
Heathkit assembly directions. You do a great job.
