Jack,

I still haven't resolved all the problems I have with mine, although I can use it on CW.
I bought mine as a "for parts" radio. The reference oscillator was missing from it, and the preselector/driver module had several slugs and coils broken beyond repair.
I bought a reference oscillator and a NOS preselector/driver module from Fair Radio, and installed them. The receiver came to life and works OK. I have a problem with AM, the carrier control pot has no effect on the carrier, which stays at full power as in CW (it should bring it down to 25W if I recall). I got another carrier control board from Fair, it doesn't help either. I checked the components, they're OK. The ALC also has a problem. When on CW, the power output starts at 50W, then after a few minutes goes to full power. It does the same with the ALC board I got from Fair. I suspect the problem is with the gain control stage on the IF board, as both tha carrier control and the ALC feed it with control voltage. I'll order an IF board from Fair Radio and will see what happens.
I can't find an original microphone or even the microphone plug anywhere, so I had to do the voice modes testing with a signal generator.
I find the receiver performance pretty decent, so I'd really like to resolve the remaining issues.
Sorry Jack, I have no input as to your issue, since I don't have problems with thr crystal oscillator decks.
