The Frankenstein Tuner project continues to evolve. Got the input
capacitor mounted on nice birch wooden blocks topped by lexan. The
circuit has been changed from the "Ultimate Transmatch" to the later
"SPC" transmatch as published in QST- - both require a dual section
variable capacitor. A reflected power bridge and meter have been
installed and the input and output connector locations finalized. Turns
counter dial added to the roller inductor. Leads from the upper deck to
the lower deck are now fed through ceramic bushings. Tuner tip for the
day when using a tuner for unbalanced to unbalanced matching without a
balun if you run across a difficult match, try reversing the tuner, put
the input into the output side - output into the input. BTW if you are
contemplating one of the above circuits and do not have a dual section
capacitor in your box then use two separate caps.
