I need some help guys;
I have a 1940 US Coast Guard/National R-116 receiver and power supply, both rack mount type. What I'm looking for is either a National rack mounted speaker to finish out the set or a 19 inch panel with a hole cut to mount a speaker. A 5 or 6 inch cut out for a speaker would suffice, or if someone has a National speaker panel, but that's wishful thinking. Other ideas are welcome too. I can paint a blank panel with wrinkle finish black and add a speaker. I don't have a photo of the R-116 in use so I can only imagine what one would look like. I doubt many Coast Guard Radiomen from WW-2 are in our ranks anymore. I checked the Coast Guard ZUT website ( I'm a Zutter) but can't find any photos in their archives. Last resort would be to contact the CG Historian at CGHQ in DC to see if they could help. I'm a retired CG Chief Radioman but these receivers really predate me. I grew up on Navy R-390's /R-1051's as a Navy RM, and, CG/Collins 651S-1's and 51S-1's later Harris R-2368's when I joined to puddle pirates/bathtub Navy (CG). 73 Tom K4NCG
