My unscientific approach to this was when I had an issue on 80m was this.
I powered my ft-897d off a battery while observing the noise I dumped my
main breaker. The noise went away. I then turned on one breaker at a time.
Once I got the noise back with the help of my wife we started disconnecting
loads. It was traced to a cheap switching wall wort!
My noise was like a buzzing or a bacon sizzle.
I've since noticed an issue on 6m that is pretty bad numbing up my 6m
receiver. It even breaks squelch and makes my mobile nuts when I pull in
the driveway. I've added all kinds of equipment since my last breaker
adventure. Looks like it's time to do it again!
