We used the AT-1011/U with the clansman radial kit.  This radial kit is so easy to use and definitely worth the shipping to get it across the pond.  Unfortunately, I didn't bring the tilt adapter with us so we used the antenna oriented vertically and signals were not very good for us.  Most stations were weak, partially readable  :(

I was quite pleased with my half wave end fed. I measured, cut and draped a piece of wire thru some fruit trees. I used the clansman radial kit. Signals were up and down but I was hearing everyone without too much difficulty.
