Link to the NBC network's day of radio broadcasts on June 6, 1944. The first reports of the D-Day invasion came in shortly after midnight Eastern War Time, which was apparently 6 hours behind London's 0630 local time. The first public announcement that the invasion was in progress actually came from the German Trans-Ocean broadcast network, with no official confirmation coming from Allied sources until several hours later.

Fascinating stuff, like being back in time listening to the events unfold.
