Great Event. Ft. Miles is an excellent low noise radio location and the
ocean air was top notch. The 261st Coast Artillery Reenactors group was
a wonderful host. They even provided me with a personal drop line via a
DR-8 reel into their telephone switch board for the RM-29 remote
testing, they brought the line to me, delivered it just like room
service. You can see the DR-8 reel at the bottom of the photo attached.
The RM-29 worked very well and I was happy with the amount of audio
voltage coming from the set, it drove the transmit microphone input of
the BC-1306 without any problems.
I was not able to communicate with the Sussex MRCA group using my
modified BC-1306 for 80 meter CW, evidently Dale KW1I heard me but I did
not hear him so a 2 way was not accomplished. However the "modified" set
worked great on 80 you just have to use your own calibration chart.
An observation: It is amazing to see how many plastic BC-611 radios are
being used by the Reenactors, the sets evidently are sold by various
companies, they were on FRS, CB etc.
Overall a great site, the WX was CAVOK on Friday and completely clear
skies with a slight ocean breeze on Saturday.
Attached photo of my "busy" ops location.
