[MRCA] AS-2259 fascination

This is something Ive considered to put up an inverted V for 40 and up.
Its definitely not for NVIS but still a decent antenna. The antenna I had
in mind was made by Shakespeare but I didnt see it last time I was at their
site. This, of course, doesnt mean a lot considering that when my meds are
in full effect, I could miss an elephant standing on my toes.

I made an NVIS antenna for the CVARC Field Day. I worked Florida with it on
40 meters. I used the fiberglass mast sections to 40' and hung a 40 and 75
meter dipole from the top. It worked pretty well for field day but I haven't
tried it from home. We've resorted to using a 40 meter cubical quad which
has less noise than a vertical or dipole.

Wasnt there another antenna along the same lines that was somewhat taller
(shorter?) than the AS-2259?

Every military radio I have ever taken into the field would rather drive an
AS-2259 than a pure 50-ohm resistive load, so perhaps that explains the
fascination.
