Well a varicap and a little rerouting of the audio would turn the 
transmitter in an FM  set. Each time it is doubled the varicap 
"modulation" increases.
Then off set the receiver and you have a 2 way crystal controlled low 
powered FM rig. If  you don't have a varicap then use a normal diode out 
of the junk box. 30 minute project.
