[MRCA] GED and AT-1011 After Action Report

I was able to check into the M and S net yesterday using my modified 
AT-1011 which was up about 30 feet. First operation test was 
accomplished by  checking into USAF MARS net on 7 Mcs at 09:00  and 
received  excellent signal reports. Then I took the antenna down and 
moved the coil tap to increase the inductance to an approx location for 
5.3 Mcs. Without an antenna analyzer I listened on the GRC-109 receiver 
for max noise and moved the tap accordingly . That GRC-109 receiver was 
perfect as it allowed me to "sweep" the band which is very had to do  
with the channelized PRC equipment. W2DGB gave me a good report as well 
as Lou, KW1I was fairly loud. Anyway it was an attempt to get away from 
base loading the antenna and improve the current distribution. Next we 
will attach permanent copper straps for the tap points and  throw the 
alligator clip in the trash can. BTW the GRC-109 receiver was powered by 
very small inverter and utilized the vehicle 24 volt vehicle  via  
"slave" connector.  The APRS plot is a little strange as there were 
often gaps as relay stations are scare here in Chickenland.
