Hi Ron,
I get the impression that hard-core ham, especially VHF-UHF types tend
to use Maidenhead Grid-squares
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maidenhead_Locator_System> rather than lat
lon.
E.g., Latitude: 40.722652 Longitude: -74.077554 = Locator:FN 20 xr 03
qk The right hand pairs are truncated depending on the require
precision. This is the center of my roof.

There always seems to be confusion regarding the proper formant for
lat-lon, decimal degrees, degrees-minutes-seconds, degrees-decimal
minutes, etc.
Perhaps someone can give us the right answer.
