Did not get to go to the ham fest down in Va today but was able to get the new inverted V up and found that the URC-94 preformed way better with that antenna, looks like what everyone says is true that base loaded verticals just don’t get it done. One reason I stayed home was to save up money for Aberdeen and Dayton this year and now have a new plan. Want to drag out a radio and try checking into the M&S net from the Aberdeen show. The question is what can be used for a good antenna in a parking lot? Just don’t think a base loaded vertical is going to get it done. I will plan on dragging out Sunair GSB-900 (URC-90) with companion auto tuner being that’s lighter then the Harris, but not by much. The Aberdeen military vehicle show and swap meet will be May 9th, 10th and 11th so got time to plan. And maybe by then will get over not having the opportunity to try to buy that Harris 590 receiver that was at the ham fest today.
