Well looks like I have the only PRC-71 HF unit(RT-778) that is
"operational" in the CONUS , perhaps the world. :-)
Several years ago at Dayton there was a stack of PRC-71 HF
units(RT-778) that were being sold and I purchased one and one half
( 1 and 1/2) units. Now my question is where did the other 15 units go?
I don't think Fumeo JA3FTU scoffed them up etc. (No offense Fumeo if
you are reading this) As far as I know Dennis has the complete PRC-71
set of four covering HF to UHF. Its a neat set/system , runs off 24
volts internal or external batteries etc. Built in antenna tuner
(manual), runs CW or SSB and uses Collins filters Built very well and
uses standard parts- - - - I had it on the M and S net frequency until
we shifted frequencies. Since the set only requires one rock it may
become my next DDS VFO project as it will not require a relay or
transistor switch to shift the injection frequencies from T to R.
