As the party aboard the LST, on the signal bridge, we established
the max distance (over water) at 7 miles (from Rob), and could have gone
further
but I didn't want to exhaust the 103V battery pack.
I could not see or detect where Rob was, until he flashed a signal light
which was barely seen and modulated by rising moisture.
That "coastwatcher" exercise was one I'll never forget. :-)
