Gang,
The Delco 5300A is QRV on 7030 KHz. Well, 7029.809 actually. A little
600-grit wet-or-dry moved the WWII 7025 rock without a lot of drama.
Contrary to popular belief, it's possible to use FT-243 crystals in
these things.
The receive crystal (front) is foam taped to the chassis. The transmit
crystal is tied down to a resistor lead.
D-subminiature (RS-232) pins are a perfect fit for the xtal sockets, and
octal-tube-socket contacts grab the crystal nicely.
Next step is to make some computer cables in an attempt to make up for
my atrocious Morse skills.
How would people feel about a once-a-week experimental radio
get-together in the evening, probably below 3800 KHz?
VY73,
Al
