And you're welcome to your opinion, but the GI's using some of this gear
said far worse things about it than anyone else on this list (as with any
soldier in any war on any topic from leadership to rations to equipment) so
we're all carrying merrily on in that tradition and having fun with the
hobby, the equipment, and our fellow collectors.
Unfortunately there's always one or two eternally grumpy people sitting in
the corner of the porch yelling "STAY OFF MY LAWN" while the rest of the
neighbourhood has fun, but not much can really be done about it short of
exercising some sort of surgical option.
Cheers.

This whole thread is a basically disgusting review of all that most here
don't know about military radio sets.
Maybe none of the sets mentioned are useful in your little games today.
But a lot of people died using these sets so that you could play your games.
The TBS was a key player in winning the Battle of the Atlantic. The TBY,
although perhaps not well loved by the Grunts who used it, was better at
what
it did than anything else available at the time. The MAR gave valuable
service during Korea as US military aviation was switching from VHF to UHF.
In my opinion, any civilian ham band only radio is at the top of any most
useless list. Especially those that only cover a single HF band.
