Something different: I will deploy a small hidden transmitter Thursday 
and Friday evening  for a short period of time  prior to "SLS". The 
transmitter will beacon on 3885 Kcs. Break out those  sophisticated 
Back Pack HF sets, BC-611's, DAV's etc. and join the search.
There are several ways to narrow down the direction to the beacon, you 
can use a loop or just use the radio  and its antenna  alone.  When 
you think you are getting close to the beacon  take off your sets 
antenna or "ground it" with you hand to attenuate the signal and walk 
in the direction of max signal.   Another method  is hold the BC-611 
close to your chest,  attenuate the signal by collapsing the antenna 
and  slowly turn your body 360 degrees  in a circle, when you detect 
"minimum" signal your back is the direction to the target.
