I always keep a radio on 29.6FM so as to know when the band opens. In the last week I've heard  a little DX(Brazil), & today I could hear some repeater traffic(the SEM-35 is pretty broad).

So check ten every once in awhile, if it sounds like the band might be open give a call on 29.4.
At this time, 14:00 central, I can hear some traffic from the east coast.
