The only reason I go the extra mile with the heat gun is that even if 
the cap has been operating satisfactorily with low leakage for 3-4 days, 
a touch of heat has quickly driven a couple of them to failure in my 
experiments.  That shouldn't happen with a good capacitor.  The 
dynamotor junction box normally operates at a pretty warm temperature, 
so they have to be able to take the heat...no pun intended. :-)

I wonder what the effect would be to simply dispense with the interior 
dynamotor caps in operational setups and mount them externally?  It is 
certainly true that they should be as close to possible to the hash 
generating elements like brushes, but perhaps a small external doghouse 
on the dyno output and input connector back shells might be a 
consideration.  I'll have to try that one of these days...my good 
original stock is running out like everyone else's...
