Hi All,
It was fun to see everyone and meet a few new people like K3OP and NN2K.
I especially enjoyed getting more time with Gene, Justin, Alex, and Yuki as
they shared their enthusiasm for the modern stuff, and conversations on
related topics of culture, kids, weapons, ships, etc.
My TBX set on a good day does not play well with others, and found new
ways to fail in the field. Naturally, it had performed perfectly on OMRN
AM and CW in the weeks up to the event in the cushy home environment. The
receiver was acting up at the time of my 1400 hours schedule with K4CHE, so
I ended up using Al's set that he had used to run Moose and Squirrel. It
was a weird sensation to have no knobs to play with as I tried to dig
Breck's signal out from the birdy that just had to be on the sked
frequency. Signal reports were exchanged but I never got the location of
that sub he needed me to sink off of Cape Henlopen.
TBX receiver tuning cap currently soaking in deoxit to see if that revives
the dead spots where the signal was going away as I tuned.
A fine day here in NJ. Time to take Martin fishing before work. I spotted
a sunny in the pond that dried up 2 years ago so let's see what else is in
there.
