Mr. Tom Bryan, noted military radio collector and historian has
politely mentioned to me that the photo mentioned below was actually
published in 1957 which was several years before Gary Powers was shot
down. Tom actually was the first to discover the photo and sent it to
me in May of 2004 when I was doing some research on the RS-6. Tom
also provided the photo to Mr. Pete McCollum to use on his website.

In the mean time I have found Tim's ,W6CC, info on the RS-6 to be
useful. He mentions the spotting function and operation of the set as
well as some of the sets problems such as 6X4. I suspect Tim has
spent more time operating the RS-6 then anyone. "We all have these
military sets but most of us just let them sit on the shelf."

Maybe we will start an RS-6 list on QSL.net :-)

The RS-6 does not have a "spotting" function. Here is a easy mod that
allows you to
do that. Actually there is another way but it takes a good ear and
practice but most
ops do not like the procedure- - - thus the mod.

The RS-6 has a strange history and here it is mention of it in a SAC
publication. During my brief assignment in SAC I never had the
opportunity to be trained or briefed on the set. Nor did they ever
give me the "big picture" so I left. :-) There is an "internet"
photo of the equipment used by Gary Powers at:

I had one on display at Gilbert, the year of the famous moonson.

Subject: [MRCA] Thank you all
Thank you all for your suggestions on my PRC74 purchase problem.
I got with Scotland Yard and sent an email to the real m0cuu.
I haven't heard from either, but I felt I should let both know what
happened.
Meanwhile, I'm saving again for another try at buying a PRC74.
In the meantime I'm still using my RS6 on the road.
73 and thanks again de KC7RJT
