Gents:

      Al was able to copy my weak sigs today.  Anyone else?  I heard Al about 3X4 and all the rest of you gents noticeably less - maybe 2X2 to 2X3.  But I couldn't copy him if/when he called me for my turn on the net.

      I was running my 75M dipole wires (total length 115 feet) lying on the ground.  The ignition noise in the FT-857D from the mobile was about S5-6 so most of you gents were covered up by my own noise.  When I turned off the car I heard you as above.

      I'm not totally discouraged.  I think I'll try a similar setup from work except I'll tie the wires onto trees to get them a bit off the ground.  I might later have to construct a resonant dipole for 60M.  In the meantime, I'm thinking of adding another sloper to the tower, this time for 60M.  I get on 80M with another longer sloper.  Eventually I'd like to put a real green radio on the net, but first things first.
