Does that mean you will be modifying the tuning of the BC-604 to change the
crystal multiplication factor from its normal of 54 to the BC-684's value of
72?

For example, a Channel 293 crystal (intended for the BC-684) will produce
output on 21.975 MHz when used in an un-modified BC-604.

I can't help think that the best way, the historically accurate way, to do
what you want is just use a BC-683 and a BC-684 instead of the BC-603 and
BC-604.

None of these are real real hard to find. Only the FT-237 mount is a very
hard-to-find and high-priced necessity. It was used by the SCR-508/528,
the SCR-608/628, and the odd-ball SCR-808/828. If you've got that, you've
passed the hump and are more than half way to re-creating any of these sets.

Best of luck,
