Alex and The Group,
I like the daytime format as well, and high noon has the potential for
working stiffs to participate.
We'll need to shop around for a better band as conditions change on us.
20- and 17-meters are non-starters for our purposes as all the usual
suspects will be in the skip zone.
I've been a habitual user of the Aussie site as well:
http://www.ips.gov.au/HF_Systems/6/5
Among the useful features there is the Hourly Area Prediction (HAP) Charts.
I've been checking the NEW YORK RADIO CARA hourly chart almost every
time I call up the net, just to get a feel for whats going on. The
recommended freq. for close-in NVIS has been steadily sagging as Spring
progressed, and is now getting down to 3.5 MHz.
Charlie, KA1GON and I tried 3996 last Saturday after M&S without
anything like encouraging results.
Looking at the Daily HAP Charts. that sow maps in one hour increments,
suggest we might try 60-meter a little earlier in the morning. I wonder
if 10 AM would be an improvement.
I'm messed up in a QTH change, so you guys will have to soldier onward.
Perhaps WB2JWU will take up the NCS slack.
73,
Fearless Leader
