The current status of the saga of the ART-13 transformer is as follows:
V3.0 design is in for quotation for first article.
V3.0 design will be used in prototype power supply at K3HVG
Results will go back to Harbach
Assuming all is well, production release will occur.
Harbach will not release any units until after successful testing for
suitability.
The final design, is now as follows:
117/230v dual-primary windings
Sec 1 FW/CT winding provides 1150v DC @ 350ma CCS w/ capacitor input
Pi filter.
Sec 2 FW/CT winding provides 420v DC @ 350ma CCS w/ capactor input Pi
filter.
There will not, repeat not, be a 28v winding. The vendor believes that
the price would be prohibitive resulting in very few units being
bought. Also, the ability to separately control the 28v supply is
highly desirable. So, no 28v winding. Chokes to support the above are
not available from Harbach. The recommendation is to use existing
Hammond chokes as the price is reasonable. I'll provide the Hammond
numbers when I get the supply up and running.
It looks like the time frame will be about 60-90 days until the final
release.
As I mentioned before, I'm not in the transformer business and was doing
this to get several ART-13s on the air, locally. My hope is to pass the
info on so others can follow on with their ART-13/ATC equipment. There
will be an article in Electric Radio regarding the above, the power
supply design and full parts list, and the activation of a NIB ART-13
I'm getting in a few days. PSE STBY! TNX!
More to follow as it unfolds.
Regards
