Al et al:

     Before we jump into 10 FM using milrads, remember:  these old green 
radios are wideband FM.  That modulation is not permitted on Ham freqs below 
30 MHz.  We can get away with it on 6M and above.  I'll check the FCC Rules 
over the weekend (it's nearly 12M here now.)  But IIRC, the Rules section on 
permitted modulation describes the math used to determine index of 
modulation or some such thing which must be less than 1 below 30 MHz.
