[MRCA] T-195 Power Supply Options

I use a 28 VD, 35 A Lambda military switching supply (no RF interference
from the supply) to power up my GRC-19 (T-195/R-392). The T-195 in this
setup has both the HV and LV solid-state inverter type power supplies
inside instead of the older type dynamotors. No startup current surge, and
the 35 A power supply has no problems at all and doesn't even get warm after
hours of operation. On the other hand, my other T-195 which has the old
dynamotors, won't start with a military 28 V 50 A supply, I have to connect
a pair of garden tractor style batteries (in series), parallel to the 28 V
output of the supply, with the voltage adjusted just to trickle charge the
batteries. This way the T-195 starts up with no hesitation and/or groaning
dynos.

Subject: [MRCA] T-195 Power Supply Options

OK, guys, second question:

As some of you know, I recently acquired a AN/GRC-46 with "everything except
the shelter" (as Brown stated it) in VG condition.
Ted and I took it for a test drive in Gilbert, and I have issues with the
T-195. The R-392 is excellent, though, so I am happy already.

Vic-K0OUX here in town and I are weighing options for a power supply to run
the T-195 and begin our troubleshooting.

We were wondering how others are running their T-195s and what options we
have.

We have a 28V 100A power supply and 5 huge caps - 75VDC 60,000uF. The PSU is
switching, however, and we were hoping to limit the surge. Possible? Anybody
know the time constant of the surge?

What else can I do?

I know I need to replicate Ted's awesome supply!

Thanks again guys!
