No I know why they didn't bother to put a sidetone in the TCS!  QSK at it's finest. Rob was certainly hammering those relays with the bug!  I recall seeing somewhere that the ART-13 recommended maximum keying speed was 20 WPM because of the response time of the vacuum antenna relay and the other keying relays.  Have never tried using anything other than a straight key on mine.
