Hi Gang:
We FINALLY made the move from NEPA to Dacula, GA just before Thanksgiving. Two of our kids, Jamie and Maja drove the HUGE Penski truck down ahead of Pat and me. We left a couple of days after they did. When we arrived at our new home in Dacula (about 40 miles NW of Atlanta) they had unloaded the the truck, unpacked about 80% of our stuff and were waiting for us!!
For the last few weeks we have been living out of boxes but we are now pretty well setteled in. I don't have the shack assembled as yet but it is coming along. I should be participating in the VHF test this upcoming weekend. The 160M contest is also just around the corner and I will be playing in that test as soon as I get my 160M antenna up in the trees.
The local club (Gwinnett ARC) had their annual "Tech Fest" last weekend and I set up two field tables and a bunch of my gear (the stuff I could find anyway) and was so busy answering questions that I missed out on the free lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs and large quantities of sweet tea! I have been asked to make a presentation on collecting, restoring and using MILCOM gear to the Gwinnett ARS. I plan on using the same talk that I gave at Pacificon in October of 2007. It seems that there are a lot of folks here that love the old Green Gear.
Now that I have located the majority of my ham gear I will make a point of trying to check into the OMRN on Saturdays.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years. Look forward to working some of you in 2009.
