Hi All,
Pete WB2JWU made a good suggestion, that we select frequencies to put rigs on to facilitate comms at our events.
Given the ARRL attitude towards historically-important modes like CW and AM, I don't feel like we really need to follow their band plan. A more practical attitude that follows the law and the golden rule is picking freqs to avoid interference.
144.36 is a historically-used channel, so some of us will find that in original crystals for rigs. The downside is that is pretty close to the 144.39 APRS(Automatic Position Reporting System) channel. They'd never notice us, but their signals do bleed over into old rigs with broad receivers. APRS is used widely.
144.45 is used as AM calling freq. in some areas, yet falls in the OSCAR subband.
144.25 wouldn't bother the SSB crowd. We are too weak. I nominate this for primary.
145.5 to 145.8 is planned for "Miscellaneous and Experimental modes" Maybe that is where we actually fit into the band plan. This is a frequency range that I don't have experience with.
I nominate 144.25 and 144.45 as primary, and 144.36 and 145.** as secondary.
73, Rob
