Crystal Order Information

I thought I would share this info with the group. I naturally have no
business connection with any of the companies.

I have had the chance recently to order military spec crystals from two
different companies. MH Electronics of Cucamonga, California and Jan
Crystals of Ft. Myers Florida. The crystal order was identical for each
company and the crystals were to be utilized in a late 1960's solid state
transceiver. My thanks to Jeep, K3HVG for telling me about MH Electronics.

Crystals ordered were in the 6 and 5 Mcs range(1.6Mcs IF) in HC-6 holders
and ordered
under the military specification of CR-66.

I am happy to report that the crystal frequencies from both companies came
out within 50-75 cycles in my equipment that utilized the CR-66 rocks. The
crystals have been tested numerous times on the bench in the actual radio.

MH Electronics processed the order in 22 days and the cost per crystal was
$18.00
Shipping was $5.75.

Jan Crystals processed the order in 14 days and the cost was $22.00 per
crystal and shipping was $6.00.

I have had an account with Jan Crystals for over 15 years and have placed at
least 50 large orders for crystals for commercial equipment. I have found
them to
be very efficient and reliable.

But like any crystal company, Jan and MH can only make a crystal to the
correct specifications,
Be sure of your specs.

MH Electronics evidently is a smaller company that has down sized but when I
talked to an actual technician and the owner ("Mel") over the phone I found
him to be very
knowledgeable, cooperative and anxious to do business and he actually
confirmed at the time of the order that they
could do the CR-66 specification.

There are many sites that list CR Specifications, one such site is:
