Roger,
It took some digging before I got the lead. And did some digging in SIG 5.
Then all was clear. These are the oscillator and RF amplifier panels and one
of the two HV power supplies from the BC-640 VHF AM transmitter. You probably
don't need them but if not too inconvenient, at this late date I would say
that they are worth saving. This isn't a popular set (and suffered from bad
press in the Surplus Pervision Manuals). But they remained in USAF service into
the early 60's. And were the mainstay transmitters of fighter control
circuits in Europe during WW-II. The pair that I once owned were retired from
Barksdale AFB in 1965. They were replaced by the AN/GRT-21.
>From a practical standpoint (usefulness of surplus), the amplifier and
oscillator panels aren't particularly useful except as spares for the BC-640. But
the PN-12 outputs a nominal 500 and 1000 VDC at around 250 MA from 220 VAC. If
you replace the four 5Z3's with 1N4006's and operate it from 120 VAC, you can
get around 270 and 550 VDC, useful for working on a lot of sets.
