Actually, 3885 KC was the frequency BC-611's shipped from the factory with.  
There is relatively little evidence that the Army ever used them on that 
frequency.  None of the other crystal control sets included 3885 in their crystal 
set.  The standard 12-channel set (in the BX-49's) started at 4035.  And the 
BC-611's unlike the BC-745 work significantly better if you get above 4 MC.  
Other standard frequencies that coils and crystals were made for the BC-611 are 
3940 and 3990, and would work much better than going down to the bottom end of 
80 meters.
