Al,
There is no MD-7 dynamotor for 12/14 Volts...
Your options are:
1. Install a 24 VDC genearator in your vehicle, with a charging system
for 24 V batteries (independent of your original 12 V system), and use
that to power up your 24 V radio equipment.
2. Get a military surplus (they appear on ebay quite frequently) 12 V to
24 V solid state inverter - they have 15 A current output if I recall -
feed that through a diode to 24 V batteries (as to prevent the batteries
to pump voltage into the inverter and to trickle charge the batteries) and
feed that to the ARC-5. The starting current of the dynamotor is way
higher than the 10 A max steady state current - it can be easily 5 times
or more momentarily - so you want those batteries connected, because
they'd supply the starting current.
3. Find the 12/24 VDC input dynamotor supply for the TCS and feed the
ARC-5 modulator/TX and RX with the high voltages from that supply
(kluge...) but you'd also have to rewire/retube the ARC-5 equipment for 12
V...
You should get at least double the 15 W rated power output (the rating
means guaranteed for 15 W minimum at the minimum voltage of the battery,
before recharging).
Good luck and have fun!
