[MRCA] SCR-178/179 Query

It appears that I have acquired a complete (?) and rather excellent
physical condition SCR-178 or 179. That is, I have a BC-186 receiver, a
BC-187 transmitter, a BC-188 modulator, and a BX-4 battery box and cable
set. It also appears that someone was going to re-build/re-wire the
transmitter in that the limited, below-chassis point-to-point wiring has
been removed. All components, meters, knobs, are present, however, with
the exception of the screen + and - and key jacks on the front panel
that have been removed. Again, all appears to be there internal
component-wise. Looking at the schematics pasted inside each cabinet,
the gear does not appear to be complex. If I decide to restore the tx,
it appears all I'll need to find are the missing jacks.

My quandary is whether to proceed and get this gear, parlay for
something else, or put it on the shelf as a "non-ops" relic. Can anyone
give me a clue as to what, exactly, I have here? By that I mean is it
worth the trouble and was this a good find? A few years back I found a
NIB (yes, NIB) complete RU/GF system in the original Navy shipping
containers, ready for installation in an SNJ aircraft. I traded it for
a like-condition BC-375, etc. and neither of us have regretted the exchange.

Any comments or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. de Jeep/K3HVG
