WHAT A BLAST!!!!!

Got there late on Friday so we didn't make it to the event until Saturday
morning. Massive crowds, 20 spate parking lots and you had to take a bus
from your lot to the event. Lines, lines, lines, and more lines.....

HOT! WOW!! Temp in the 90s with partial overcast. Not enough cloud cover to
ground the air show portion which was GREAT!! Got some outstanding pix of
the TBM, PBY, P-40, 47, 51, etc.

The WWII re-enactors were everywhere. They were camped all over the area in
WWII type tents and cantonment areas. There were US Army, Marines, and USAAF
as well as German soldiers.

Lots of static displays of gear and, of course the re-enactment of capturing
the French Village, along with the flag raising on Mt. Sarabachi (sp) by the
USMC commerative unit from Camp Lajune (sp).

Got loads of photos. Say and briefly spoke to Ted K3PWW. He was busy trying
to get some telephone control of a remote transmitter.

At any rate, I managed a pix of me and "The Gunny", R. Lee Ermey, from the
History Channel's Mail Call program. I also talked at length with the
executive producer of the show and pitched an idea for a segment to show the
MCRA and other groups efforts to restore and use classic military radio
gear. Gave him a copy of Military Magazine, where I hope that some of the
pix will see the light of day.

On the whole...a great time. It rained Sunday so glad we went on Saturday.
