Subject: [MRCA] RCA Radio used at South Pole
I got the following note from a hame Chile, asking about some 1930's RCA
radio equipment used at the South Pole. Does anyone recognize this
equipment, and even better, have any information on them, manuals, etc?
The old RCA archives here at what's left of RCA Camden are off-site, and
I haven't had the time to research this equipment, but hope to soon. In
the meantime, I'm hoping someone on the list has some insight.
I've posted some photos of the equipment at the VARA sight on
http://qsl.net/w2vtm/Chile-RCA/.
I'm cross-posting, so sorry if you get dupes.

I am looking for any technical information, photos, articles etc
concerning:
RCA ET-4339 group transmitters and power supply,
MI-8422 RF unit,
MI-8423 modulator unit.
These are required for a restoration project for the 1939 first
permanent Chilean radio station at the south pole. I am hoping to put
this radio station back in the air if able to find all the required
elements.
This radio transmitter was coincidently found in the attic at the
university of Santiago, after over 67 nears o storage.
I haven't been able to determine which receiver was the companion to
this transmitter. If you have any information, or photos showing such
installation, this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and best regards,
Ira Curtis
