Folks,

I'm happy to announce a low-intensity MRCA activity will be held Sunday,
22 July 2007, at the Infoage Science/History Learning Center in Wall
Township, NJ. This is Marconi's 1914 Transatlantic Receiver Site that
later became the Signal Corps' Camp Evans. See: http://www.infoage.org/

Here's the concept: We'll gather about 08:30 and dispatch field
exercise teams at about 09:00 for a medium-range (10-15 miles) net at
10:00. Will use 3885 for sure, and try 51MHz. After lunch we'll
conduct short range operations and demonstrations in and around the New
Jersey Antique Radio Club Museum at Infoage, which is open to the public
on Sunday afternoons. I'd like to see the bulk of the group stay around
until about 15:00.

There is a 100-foot double-zepp fed by 450-ohm twin lead in the trees
over the museum. The Infoage facilities can be available to us starting
Saturday. There are a limited number of beds available in the historic
Marconi Station Manager's Cottage. Beyond that, there is plenty of
floor space, places for tents, and parking for RV's (no hookups).
Potential field locations include the Highlands Twin Lighthouse, scene
of Marconi's 1901 radio operations, and AT&T's High-Seas transmitter
site at Ocean Gate. The museum contain three rooms full of military
electronics plus a lot of civilian radios. A cookout on Saturday
evening is not out of the question. Here's the map:

Like all MRCA events, this will be whatever WE make it. The site allows
a lot of flexibility. At minimum, Rob K2WI and I will be there to play
with our radios.

So let us know if you can come, and how you'd like to participate.

73,
Al
