[MRCA] Field exercise debrief

Hi All,

I had a lot of fun with the trip to the mountain. I was pleasantly
surprised to be able to work Al Klase at his home base in Flemington, and
Joe Cro in Washington's Crossing. However, I had the advantage of
frequency agility and a little more power (10W) than some of the other
rigs.

On the Saturday morning exercise, Ted and I were quite pleased with the
performance of the BC-669 with 24-foot vertical vs. the GRC-19 with dipole.
Ted said he copied the portables much better on the former(which picked up
the skywave signals less), and when I checked the relative strength of his
signal at K2WI/m one time the former was noticeably stronger and the other
time it was inconclusive.

If we want to try working base with the little rigs, we should try to do it
closer to the middle of the day when the skywave signals are less of a
problem, and we should try a vertical again at base. CW is another option
as that could be done in a QRM-free environment.
