Radio Operations at this year's MRCA Meet will include, but will not be
limited to, the following:

Thursday, Sept 21

HF antenna erection (high dipole and NVIS) and set up of base station GRC-19
(W3PWW)
Ad hoc operation on 75 meter phone by late afternoon.

Friday, Sept 22

1415 Briefing and 1430 Departure
Early afternoon convoy to picturesque Big Pocono (17 mile drive) to exercise
HF and VHF (51mHz FM) radio gear by contacting the base station at Gilbert
Fairgrounds (12 miles). Ted, W3PWW will run a directed net taking
check-ins from Big Pocono. If you have a number of radio, mode and antenna
checks to make, see Ted before leaving the fairgrounds and give him a list
to make sure all your tests get run. Pick up a copy of the Big Pocono ops
plan before you leave for important information including primary and
secondary operating frequencies. BC-611 and low power backpack rigs will be
exercised at the mountain top. Ted will have a choice of high dipole and
NVIS antenna. Bring several portable antennas to the mountain top and get
comparison reports.

Saturday, Sept 23

0500 Old Military Radio Net (3885 kHz)
The popular and long running "Mil Rad Net" will be operating portable from
the Gilbert Fairgrounds in Eastern Pennsylvaniac, site of the combined
Redball Military Transport Annual Rally and the MRCA Meet.

0900 (or so) we'll make up some comm teams and deploy them to several sites
in a 2-10 mile radius. Comm teams will be evaluated for speed of
deployment, signal strength and quality and acquisition of intelligence
acquired in the vicinity of their location. Depending on the number of
teams we may send a second wave to the remote sites when the first wave
returns. Radio ops awaiting deployment should set up at the fairgrounds and
communcate with deployed teams when they call in.
