My good friend and homebrewer extraordinaire~, Andy Howard, WA4KCY, is featured in the current issue of CQ Magazine (starting on pg 74)

I first met Andy about 7-8 years ago on a trip to the Atlanta area. I journeyed out to his old place in Carrolton, GA and was truly amazed at the restored Hallicrafters, Collins, and Heathkit commercial gear along with an impressive array of MilCom gear including SEVEN (7) BC-611s, an ART-13, TRC-77, and other "green gear". His new place in Clem, GA has an even bigger display area (it takes up almost the entire basement just for the ham gear...the restored AM BCST radios are on the main floor of his home) for showcasing his beautiful collection of gear.

On the homebrew scene, Andy is with out peers. He is an absolute craftsman of the highest order. I have had the pleasure of using his original KW transmitter along with his newest creation, a KW transmitter built around a 4-1000A tube. To cap off the experience the receiver I used in the first case was a pristinely restored Halli SX-115. The huge 4-1000 transmitter was paired up with a Halli SX-88, one of only a hand full known to exist. (At last count I believe Andy has two SX-88s!)

Anyway, the main reason for this posting is to get all of you to pick up a copy of the March 2006 CQ Mag and check out Andy's handiwork. You REALLY have to see this stuff in person to appreciate Andy's craftsmanship. He certainly raises the bar for homebrew gear and commercial equipment restoration.
