Has anyone given thought to what types of exercises will be
conducted
at Gilbert this year? I have a now-working RT-70 that I'd like to show
off
and I can bring my NVIS, AS-2259-like antenna if someone wants to hook a

GRC-9, etc. to it. If the latter, I'll look into developing some kind
of
matching network for it for 3.885.

Gene,

Last year the MRCA included the traditional radio ops pilgramage to Big
Pocono on Friday, and also a more local tactical ops mission on Saturday
morning. From the positive feedback received last year I think there is
a
general desire to have an exercise on both days so that attendees can
continue to have several opportunities to exercise their radios.

If we follow last year's model for Saturday there will be an opportunity
for
you to play with all the items you mentioned in your memo.

Outstanding idea, Gene.

I have a GRC-9 that I can get working, hopefully, by the time the Meet
rolls
around. If not, I can bring one of several other things in my
ever-growing
(much to my wife's consternation) MilCom "tonnage".

Hope some folks will bring some VHF AM gear, too. I'll have my TBY
along. Probably TBX and TCS, too.

My self and Gunny Rake, N3PBL, will be there with some PRC-6s and
possibly a
PRC-10 or two. No AM gear here. Would like to get a set or two, however.

Anybody have something they want to part with that will find a good
home?

Rich,

When we send out the teams on radio ops they can be equipped with VHF FM
as
well as AM HF gear. For short hauls we have used the VHF to coordinate
the
HF activity, especially when there is QRM and we have to use an
alternate
frequency.

Rob,

I don't know how much VHF AM gear we can attract, but it only takes two
for
communication!

Rob:

Luckily this year I wll be able to participate on Friday and Saturday. I

believe Gunny Rake, N3PBL will be there both days, too.

If permissable, I may bring my small camp trailer up there on Friday and

stay over night. Not sure if that option is available, but if so, I
would be
more than happy to do that for no other reason than to have a presence
at
our designated rally point to keep an eye on things during the evening
hours.

This will be the first time I will have attended both days AND been
available for the Field Ops. Looking forward to the experience.

Hi Rich,

Camping is encouraged. John's are nearby, and there's even a shower.

Roger, that, Boss.

Will bring the camper and set up the LZ.

Don't forget to pop smoke when inbound on Saturday.

Pin 1 wants -7.5 V @ 30 mA.
Pin 2 wants 1.5 V @ 190 mA.
Pin 3 is common.
Pin 4 wants +3.0 V @ 360 mA
Pin 5 wants +156 (nominally) @ 35 mA.

This, per the conversion article in "CQ," Sept. 1957.

This is a "fun" rig. As a kid I heard a W1 in California on one.
