Hi Gene,

I don't see why not.  I think the collector/operators tend 
to ignore the FM sets because there's generally nobody to 
talk to, especially from home.  I made brief contacts with 
the PRC-77 to the Fairgrounds from Mt. Pocono during the 
last two field exercises.  I think it actually worked better 
than the HF stuff over this path.

Last year I was hoping to round up some sort of FM base 
station for the Fairgrounds for the whole event.  PRC-77 is 
NG 'cause it only has tone squelch and not a lot of audio 
for a speaker.  Perhaps somebody has a serviceable VRC-12. 
I can bring an appropriate AC supply.
